Tattapani

Hii lovelies,

I’ll be talking about a very secluded, not so famous village named Tattapani, Himachal Pradesh.

Where is this place?
The village is located in karsog, Mandi district. It is approx 52km away from Shimla and it is situated on the bank of river Sutlej.

What is exciting about this place?
It is said that in earlier times the village used to have hot springs and hence it was named Tattapani (hot water). The village is also famous for rafting. Two very famous rafting stretches are from Chabba to Tattapani of 12km and Pandowa to Tattapani of 36km.

My experience of Tattapani

Again this is a part of another Shimla trip. Last year I and my four friends went to Shimla for a getaway, of course, we needed that desperately, while we were there we decided we’ll do something rocking and thought of doing rafting.

The next day we booked a 7 seater and oho mashallah what a driver we got!!!! usse humare jaan ki parwaah nhi thi xD just kidding, I mean yaar pahado pe rash driving? one of my friends had to say “bhaiya thoda araam se chala lo hume koi jaldi nhi hai” but you know usually every pahadi drives like that.

We reached our destination, initially, we were terrified, okayy not me my friends were xD ukr rafting sunne me hee thoda crazy sa lagta hai xD lekin fir waha se bina rafting kiye wapas aa jate that doesn’t make any sense so we decided we will do it!!

Then after all the payments were done we went to the starting point which was 12km away from where we parked the car and got our lifejackets and oars, now we all were at that stage where we were excited and terrified at the same time! It was our first attempt at rafting so yea.

And our guide was too wicked, one of my friends asked him “bhaiya apne yaha kabhi accidents dekhe hai ?” he replied “nahi pehle toh nhi dekhe, aaj ka pta nhi” and she was the one who was scared the most, uski or fatt gyi xD

Now it was time, we were on the boat, we started rowing and came to a point, where the guide looked and pointed at me and said “chalo, ab kudo” and I was like “han?kya?” I didn’t think much and then I took a plunge. Oh damn, the water was freezing cold!! I guess 1 or 2 degrees it was. You know, if you’ve ever seen the movie “Luck”, there is a scene where a shark eats up a girl’s leg while she was rescuing herself. When I was in the water, in my head I was about to lose my legs xD. One by one everyone dived.

Though the water didn’t have a strong current the whole time and it felt more like boating still it was a great experience. We did a 12km stretch from chabba to tattapani. I dived 3 times, it was amazing we loved it!!

And if you’re scared of water and want to experience rafting you should visit tattapani you’d love it! and also the views on your way from shimla to tattapani is beautiful ❤
